Jahiem White is being talked about highly by PFF College before the 2025 season
With the departure of CJ Donaldson, who will be joining the defending College Football Playoff National Champions at Ohio State, Jahiem White is in a prime position to become the new featured back for the Mountaineers in the return of head coach Rich Rodriguez.
White has an opportunity to be an “every-down” back this season, especially with the loss of Donaldson. Coming off last season, in which many expected to see White explode onto the national media scene, White has recorded two consecutive 800+ rushing-yard seasons. Now, as a junior, White will have more opportunities to shine with his former teammate Donaldson moving on.
With his early career success, White is getting more attention from the national media in anticipation of what could be a great season for the York, Pennsylvania, native.
“With CJ Donaldson off to Ohio State, Jahiem White is the horse in this offense and could be in for a huge year,” Dalton Wasserman of PFF College said.
Bringing a new level of media attention is a great sign of what White could do this upcoming season. White and the Mountaineers will begin their season on August 30, taking on Robert Morris University in Morgantown.
Jermaine Haley is the latest to join the TBT Best Virginia roster
Best Virginia just confirmed its third player on the roster for the 2025 edition of The Basketball Tournament. Jermaine Haley will join two other former Mountaineers on the team for the chance to win a $1 million cash prize. Haley played two seasons with WVU from 2018 to 2020.
The 6’7” guard can give some valuable versatility at the guard position. Haley will return to the TBT playing for Best Virginia after last playing for the team in 2022, where he scored 17 points in the win over Marshall’s alumni team, Herd That.
Haley will join fellow guards Erik Stevenson and Kedrian Johnson as the only confirmed players as of right now.
During his time in Morgantown, Haley played in 66 games while starting in 54 games, including starting in all 30 games during the 2019-2020 season. He averaged 7.9 points per game in his two seasons wearing a Mountaineer uniform while adding 4.2 rebounds per game, 2.2 assists per game, and 1.2 steals per game.
The TBT regional play will take place from July 18-22. Best Virginia will play host to their own region, with games being played at the Charleston Coliseum.
West Virginia native, Jace Rinehart, named to award semifinalist during fantastic season
When Jace Rinehart committed to coming back home for his final season after spending three seasons at USC Upstate in South Carolina, many WVU baseball fans probably did not expect him to be the contributor to the offense that he was this season.
But that is exactly what he has done during the 2025 season. Because of his great 2025 season, his first in Power 4 baseball, Rinehart has been to as a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy.
Presented to the best collegiate player in the country, decided on by on-field performance, leadership, and moral character/courage, the Dick Howser Trophy is considered one the most prestigious awards in college baseball. Rinehart is the second WVU player to be named a semifinalist for the award, with the only other Mountaineer to be included in this honor being 2024 first-round MLB Draft selection JJ Wetherholt.
The Mannington, West Virginia, native has earned this honor by posting a .328 average and a .979 OPS on the season while adding a team-leading 50 RBIs and eight home runs.
Rinehart joins Logan Sauve, Brodie Kresser, and two Mountaineer pitchers (Chase Meyer and Reese Bassinger) as Mountaineers to be named to an award watchlist this season.
