Just Baseball has released their Top 300 MLB Draft prospects list, and a starter from the West Virginia Mountaineer was included on the list.

After a great junior season, WVU baseball catcher Logan Sauve found himself regarded quite highly on the national publication's top prospect list released on June 5. Sauve was penciled in at the 135th overall spot on the list.

Hailing from Boiler Springs, Pennsylvania, Sauve turned in a fantastic junior season in Morgantown. The starting catcher earned First Team All-Big 12 honors, a Big 12 Player of the Week award, and was named as a finalist on the watchlist for the Buster Posey Award.

WVU baseball could see a former player drafted in the fifth straight year

Sauve has a bright future in professional baseball ahead of him. But there is still a possibility of Sauve returning to the West Virginia for his senior season in 2026, chasing after a trip the Omaha for the College World Series.

With the season completed, Sauve's junior season stats boast a .276 batting average with eight home runs, 26 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases. Sauve showed defensive prowess behind the plate as well. Posting a .991 fielding percentage, Sauve has the second-highest fielding percentage on the team with at least 100 putouts -- only behind departing first baseman Grant Hussey. If he does head to the MLB Draft and hear his name called, it'll mark the fifth consecutive season the Mountaineers have seen a player drafted.

“His 91% in-zone contact rate is among the best in the country, and he’s grown into average or better power. It’s a legitimate offensive profile now," Just Baseball wrote regarding the WVU baseball starter.

"Sauve has received rave reviews for his ability to handle a pitching staff and leadership. He’s a long-term catcher with good athleticism, footwork, and receiving behind the dish, too."

West Virginia baseball fans will have to patiently wait to see if Sauve heads to the MLB Draft or if he returns to the Mountaineers for his senior season. In either case, Sauve can look forward to a bright future ahead of him on the diamond.
