There is a ton of hype surrounding WVU football junior running back Jahiem White entering the 2025 college football season.
During the offseason, White began popping up in photos appearing to have added muscle and reassured fans he was dialed in on preparation for the new season. Since then, White has been named to preseason All-Big 12 and All-American lists and also found himself on watch lists for the Maxwell, Walter Camp, and Doak Walker Awards.
With WVU's preseason camp underway, Rich Rodriguez has spent time lamenting his situation in the running back room, where a mixture of eligibility issues and injury troubles have taken a group once considered to be one of the most loaded on the roster and put them in a position where Rodriguez has discussed needing to add players in the portal and using slot receivers in the backfield at practice. But White has seemingly not been apart of the issue, having been in attendance at both open practice so far and remaining healthy according to Rodriguez.
On Friday, the Mountaineers welcomed media for their second open practice session of the preseason, where reporter Joe Smith of RedditCFB and HailWV captured White going through drills with his fellow running backs – all the while with coaches Larry Porter and Noel Devine (a WVU legend in his own right) in his ear. Those interested in watching the film can find it embedded below from a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In the film, you don't get to see a ton of substance, but what you do get from White looks sharp: quick, agile cuts despite undergoing surgery for a lower-body injury in the offseason and not getting back to action until near the middle of spring practices, and him exploding through pads meant to mimic contact from defenders in a manner that gives you confidence you'll see him breaking more than a few tackles this season.
