The West Virginia Mountaineers lost a lot of talent to the transfer portal this offseason, but one critical piece of the puzzle that did return for WVU football is Jahiem White.
The standout tailback was a big contributor to a West Virginia rushing offense that ranked in the Top 10 amongst Power 4 programs over the past two seasons -- White rushed for 1,687 yards and 11 touchdowns during that stint while sharing carries with CJ Donaldson, who has since left the program for Ohio State.
White was captured on camera this week during summer player workouts by Chris Anderson of EerSports, and the York, Pa. native looked like he's been living in the weight room this offseason.

White took little time in replying to the post on his personal account on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter. He used the photo as an opportunity to issue an informal statement on his preparation for the upcoming WVU football season.
"Straight business this year. Junior season is my only focus. Goals have been set, the work is being put in, can’t wait to see the return," he wrote,

White missed part of spring practices for the Mountaineers as he recovered from an injury, but got back into action following spring break to get some early training inside WVU Head Coach Rich Rodriguez's offense.
"He’s kind of a proven guy, so he’s got to get reps just to learn the system...we know what we have in Jahiem, the other guys we’re not sure yet," Rodriguez said during a spring football press conference.
White has been the subject of praise from national analysts throughout the offseason, and many expect he will need to play a big role to help the second Rich Rodriguez era of WVU football get off on the right foot.
“With CJ Donaldson off to Ohio State, Jahiem White is the horse in this offense and could be in for a huge year,” Dalton Wasserman of Pro Football Focus wrote earlier this offseason.
