It's officially the time of the year when college football preseason award watch lists are dropped, and WVU football junior running back Jahiem White finds himself being looked at for a prestigious honor.

White was recently named to the 2025 Maxwell Award watch list. The Maxwell Award is handed out each season to college football's most outstanding player come the end of the season.

White earned the honor of making the watch list with an impressive 2024 stat line, as he finished last season with 845 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns while also adding 122 receiving yards and hauling in one touchdown reception while splitting time in the backfield with CJ Donaldson Jr. Over the course of his two seasons with the Mountaineers, White has tallied over 1,600 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns.

WVU fans are excited about White's decision to return to Morgantown despite the departure of former head coach Neal Brown and running backs coach Chad Scott, and expect a big season from the junior tailback. White was also recently named to the Athlon Preseason All-America team, and drew attention over the summer as he appeared in photos looking in superb shape for the upcoming season.

Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be released on November 11 this season, which will fall just after WVU's tenth contest of the 2025 campaign. The finalists will be announced two weeks later on November 25, with those players earning an invitation to the College Football Awards Show on December 11.
