The West Virginia Mountaineers have seen their second wave of players announce their intent to enter the transfer portal in recent days after four players became the first to announce their intent to depart the program last weekend. And with this round of players, the Mountaineers have lost more depth across the offensive side off the ball, including one quarterback who started one game at the position this past season.
This group of players is headlined by redshirt freshman signal caller Khalil Wilkins, who announced on Thursday he plans to enter the portal once it opens. Wilkins started the BYU game for West Virginia this season, and appeared in six games for the Mountaineers after redshirting in 2024. He went 16-of-36 for the Mountaineers passing this year for 185 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He also added 243 yards and two rushing touchdowns with his legs.
I will be entering my name in the Transfer Portal with 3 years of eligibility. My film from this past year is a slide over… AGTG🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/RRXnZVSEF0

“To my West Virginia family – thank you for giving me the opportunity to wear the Gold and Blue. My time at WVU has shaped me on and of the field, and I’m truly grateful for every coach, teammate, and fan who supported me along the way, as I did my best to ‘put it on the line.’ The brotherhood in the locker room is real," Wilkins wrote in a social media post.
“After a lot of thought and conversations with those close to me, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal. This choice comes from a place of gratitude for what this university has given me and excitement for what lies ahead. I will be entering the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility remaining."
Joining Wilkins on the offensive side of the ball with plans to enter the transfer portal is center Robby Martin, who was the No. 1-ranked prospect in the state of West Virginia in the Class of 2024. Martin spent his freshman season at NC State, and saw just six snaps against Robert Morris for WVU this season. The Mountaineers are also losing depth in the trenches with freshman offensive lineman Cooper Young, who was injured this season and saw no action for West Virginia, set to enter the portal.
The Mountaineers also will lose their third running back after Jahiem White and Diore Hubbard, as sophomore Tyler Jacklich also announced his plans to transfer. Jacklich saw seven carries for 26 yards this season, seeing action against Kansas and Utah.
