Well, this is one transfer portal move WVU fans likely weren't expecting.
West Virginia running back Jahiem White had been recently hinting at a return to the program next season after his junior year was derailed by an injury in the second game of the season against Ohio. But unfortunately for fans still hoping to see his potential unleashed in a Rich Rodriguez-led offense, that likely won't be happening after all.
The news broke from several national reporters on Monday morning that White plans to enter the transfer portal once it opens in January, marking the seventh and one of the impactful players that appears to be headed for the transfer portal.

White is rushed for 1,687 yards and 11 touchdowns in his first two seasons with the Mountaineers, and there was a ton of hype surrounding the junior running back entering the 2025 season. Sadly, he was unable to do much of anything as he was sidelined for the rest of the year by an injury in just the second week of the season. He did manage to tally 133 rushing yards and three touchdown in his game-and-a-half of action this season.
White's recent posts to fans on Instagram had many people believing he would be returning to the program next season, but now the Mountaineers will most likely be without their star running back entering the 2026 season. White joins quarterback Nicco Marchiol, defensive back Zae Jennings, wide receiver Tyshawn Dues, offensive linemen Jude Edwards and Ethan Chill, and linebacker Mike Hastie as players whose intention to enter the portal has been reported.
