WVU basketball recruiting continues pursue Top 100 high school prospects across the country, with Ross Hodge and his staff recently dialing on a highly-touted Class of 2027 guard from California.
According to Rivals.com’s Jamie Shaw, WVU offered four-star guard Mekhi Robertson at the end of January. Rated as the fifth-ranked recruit in California for the Class of 2027 according to On3, Robertson is quite the talented recruit. He currently holds offers from 13 total schools, including Arizona State, Villanova, Oklahoma State, University of California, NC State, Mississippi State, and WVU.

Mekhi Robertson Could Add To Loaded WVU Basketball Backcourt
Ranked in the Top 100 for the Class of 2027, Robertson currently sits as the 56th-best recruit in his class according to On3. At 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, the SoCal Academy star is listed as a shooting guard.
As one of the top-rated recruits in the country, Robertson will likely be getting more attention from other schools. If the Mountaineers are able to officially land the four-star recruit from California, it would continue their high level of recent success in the high school recruiting department.
A dream scenario that would be almost too unbelievable to happen for the Mountaineers, looking ahead to the 2027-2028 season, the Mountaineers could end up with four high-level recruits on the roster in the backcourt.
Current backup freshman guard, and former four-star recruit who reclassified to join WVU for this season, Amir Jenkins, would be a junior. Combine Jenkins with the highest rated recruit to commit in program history, Miles Sadler, and three-star guard Kington Whitty, Robertson would be in a potentially elite group of guards.
Imagine the 'problem' of having to try to find all four of those players adequate playing time? Now, I know the likelihood of all four being on the same roster is a very slim possibility, but for the WVU program, just the chance of the stars aligning gives great hope to the WVU basketball fanbase.
Excited Mountaineer basketball fans should continue to monitor the recruiting process for the 2027 grad Robertson. Is Robertson going to be the latest big fish that Ross Hodge will land? Stay tuned to find out.
