The McDonald's All-American designation began in 1977, and the first McDonald's All-American Game took place the following year in 1978. Now widely acknowedged as the best-known and most-prestigious high school All-American honor, all but four NCAA Championship teams since 1978 has had at least one McDondald's All-American on their roster. Now, the Mountaineers will have two in the same class.

The nominees for the game are divided into an East roster and a West roster for the competition. Sadler, representing Bella Vista Prep in Arizona, will be on the West team. Whitty, representing Christ School in North Carolina, will be on the East team.

Sadler is currently ranked among the Top 30 players in the nation in his class, and he averaged 16 points, five assists, four rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game during his junior season.

Whitty played for prominent AAU organization Pro One ahead of his senior season, and averaged 18.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game on the circuit. He also played in the 2026 Select 80 league last fall and was named the Co-MVP of the event, and is a two-time state champion in track and field in the 400-meter dash and the high jump.
