Former West Virginia star Javon Small is getting closer to potentially hearing his name called during the 2025 NBA Draft.

With the draft set for the end of June, more people across the sport seem to be coming to the consensus that Small is looking like a late second-round selection at the upcoming event.

An NBA Mock Draft projecting both rounds of the event was released by Yahoo Sports on Friday, with Javon Small seeing himself listed as the 48th overall pick, which would land him with the Memphis Grizzlies.

NBA Senior Analyst Kevin O'Conner cites Grizzlies' star Ja Morant's susceptibility to injuries as a reason Memphis might pursue a guard in the Draft, and describes Small as an "undersized guard who plays bigger than his body, thanks to his excellent athleticism and gritty nature." He notes Small is "a knockdown shooter off the catch" as well as "a solid lead guard" but has concerns about Small's "lack of size."

The projection matches one from ESPN earlier this month, who also predicted that Small would end up in Memphis. The former All-Big 12 selection an All-American turned heads at the NBA Combine with solid performances both while shooting in front of scouts and playing in five-on-five action with other prospects., but first began impressing those scouts with his strong performance as a senior for West Virginia.

Small averaged 18.6 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game playing for the Mountaineers last season, helping lead a program fresh off one of it's worst seasons in memory to a 19-13 record and the brink of an NCAA Tournament bid.
