On the same day that WVU football received a devastating update regarding a pair of starters on their roster, they also received some optimistic news about another potential starter who has been unable to suit up for the Mountaineers so far this season.

On Monday, the news broke that edge rusher and UTSA transfer Jimmori Robinson is officially eligible to play for the West Virginia Mountaineers this season – Robinson himself started the rumors with a cryptic post on X, formerly known as Twitter, and the news was later confirmed by Mike Casazza of EerSports. Robinson is a former JUCO All-American and was named the American Conference Defensive Player of the Year for his effort with the Roadrunners last season.

Robinson appeared in 43 games at UTSA, including 13 starts, and he managed 110 tackles (30 TFL), 15 sacks, 6 pass breakups, and 3 forced fumbles during his time on their roster. Robinson was initially deemed ineligible by the NCAA, and even after a judge granted Robinson and three teammates an injunction that said all four had a remaining year on their collegiate eligibility clocks, the NCAA maintained that Robinson was also academically ineligible and unable to compete. As of last week, the Mountaineers were still waiting on an update.

Sources indicate that Robinson is yet to practice this week, but if he can begin practice starting Tuesday, he should be deemed able to go full contact in pads on Saturday during The Backyard Brawl given the NCAA's acclimation rules – although given that it would be his first day able to go full contact, it's unclear how much he would play against Pitt if it he good to go.

This good break in luck comes after the heartbreaking news dropped earlier on Monday that both starting running back Jahiem White and starting wide receiver Jaden Bray will miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to injuries sustained during the team's 17-10 loss to Ohio in Week 2.
