On Tuesday afternoon during WVU football head coach Rich Rodriguez’s weekly press conference, a new update was shared regarding the eligibility of transfer edge rusher Jimmori Robinson, who has granted eligibility on the subject of his eligibility clock by a judge in a recent court case but may still be academically ineligible, according to the NCAA.

The update was mostly a lack of news regarding eligibility for Robinson, who is the defending American Conference Defensive Player of the Year and was ranked a Top 100 transfer portal prospect by ESPN. But Rodriguez did share a new timetable for when he expects to learn more about the matter – and it should come relatively quickly.

“[We’re hoping to] hear something in a day or two,” Rodriguez said.

But even if the news on Robinson’s eligibility is a full green light to begin practicing with the Mountaineers, fans aren’t likely to see him on the gridiron when WVU travels down I-79 and across US 50 to Athens for a regional road trip to defending MAC Champions Ohio. Rodriguez called it a “long shot” that Robinson would have reached the required number of practices to be available for full contact yet.

However, if news does come that he can play this week, he’ll likely be able to reach the required number of practices before the Mountaineers host Pitt for The Backyard Brawl in Week 3 –and he would be a welcome addition for a massive rivalry affair that could see even potentially see a visit from College GameDay.
