WVU football landed their third commitment on the defensive side of the ball from a Power 4 program as a second sibling duo is now set to play for the Mountaineers in the 2026 season.

West Virginia officially landed a commitment on Monday afternoon from Wisconsin defensive back Geimere Latimer. Latimer is the brother of four-star 2026 high school signee Amari Latimer, who was set to join the Badgers before being flipped by the Mountaineers during the Early Signing Period in December.

Latimer played in 10 games for the Badgers and finished last season with 23 tackles and a forced fumble. But before his time at Wisconsin, Latimer had connections to the current WVU staff. He played for current WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez at Jacksonville State from 2023-2024, and underneath Zac Alley as a defensive coordinator during the first season of that stint. During his time with the Gamecocks, he recorded 56 tackles, five pass deflections, and four interceptions.

Latimer was the sixth overall commitment for the Mountaineers from the transfer portal this cycle, joining defensive lineman Will LeBlanc, linebacker Isaiah Patterson, defensive back Maliek Hawkins, wide receiver Prince Strachan, and quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. on the list of incoming transfers.

The Mountaineers are facing quite a depleted secondary for the second consecutive year, and has consistently ranked as one of the worst secondaries in the Big 12 under two different head coaches over the past few years. The Mountaineers will hope Latimer will provide a boost with his Power 4 experience and familiarity with Alley and Rodriguez's system.
