West Virginia baseball continues to climb in just about every set of college baseball ranking, including a massive jump this week in the D1Baseball rankings that NCAA recognizes as the official set of rankings.
The Mountaineers were ranked 24th in last week’s D1Baseball rankings, and this week they jumped seven spots to land at 17th in the latest rankings. A sweep against the Cincinnati Bearcats last weekend proved enough to move WVU seven spots higher in the latest rankings.
The Mountaineers also saw a massive jump in another set of national rankings this past week, leaping from 22nd to 14th in this past week's edition of Baseball America's Top 25 poll.
WVU also found themselves ranked in the Top 10 nationally in a pair of independent rankings -- they game in 10th in the National College Baseball Writer's of America (NCBWA) Top 25 poll and 9th in the Perfect Game Top 25 poll.

The rankings jump came after another weekend conference series resulted in another sweep for WVU, with the Cincinnati Bearcats being the most recent the unlucky team to go against the Mountaineers amidst their current hot streak.
WVU’s conference winning streak is up to 12 games following a win over UCF on Friday, but an unfortunate 3-2 loss to Penn State on Tuesday ended what was a 14-game overall win streak. Kendall Rodgers from D1Baseball had some high praise for the Mountaineers after the Cincinnati series.
“That’s a clean sweep for @WVUBaseball. As I wrote last week, just a really impressive offensive club and the pitching continues to show plenty of promise. RPI up to 14 and stick is soaring after their series sweep,” Rodgers tweeted.

With four full conference series left, WVU must continue to win as many conference games and series as possible to secure the opportunity to host an NCAA Regional. WVU last hosted a Regional in 2019.
