After a few good games from the WVU football's true freshman quarterback Scotty Fox Jr., he has found himself climbing higher on ESPN's latest rankings of Power 4 quarterbacks.

Landing at the 59th ranking on the list, Fox Jr. moved up five spots since ESPN writer Bill Connelly’s last ranking. After about a month of games, Connelly’s updated his quarterback rankings, moving quarterbacks up and down based on recent game performances.

“Five different QBs have taken snaps for WVU this year, and it says something that Fox has been the clear standout of the bunch while averaging just 5.7 yards per dropback and 3.9 yards per carry (no sacks) in four starts. Still, the Mountaineers have won two straight, scoring 74 points in the process. That's definitely an improvement,” Connelly commented on the true freshman quarterback.

Since taking over the starting job, Fox Jr. has gone 64-for-108 through the air through four games, and he has racked up 707 passing yards and 111 rushing yards, while adding four passing touchdowns and two touchdowns on the ground.

Other Big 12 quarterbacks who ranked above Fox Jr. included Cincinnati’s Brendan Sorsby (#9 rank), Baylor’s Sawyer Robertson (#18 rank), Utah’s Devon Dampier (#19 rank), Kansas’ Jalon Daniels (#21 rank), Texas Tech’s Behren Morton (#22), TCU’s Josh Hoover (#23 rank), BYU’s Bear Bachmeier (#24 rank), Kansas State’s Avery Johnson (#27 rank), Arizona’s Noah Fifita (#31 rank), Houston’s Connor Weigman (#34 rank), Iowa State’s Rocco Becht (#43 rank), Arizona State’s Jeff Sims (#52 rank), and Colorado’s Julian Lewis/Kaidon Salter (#57).

The only Big 12 quarterbacks who ranked below Fox Jr. were UCF’s Tayven Jackson (#63 rank) and Oklahoma State’s “All sorts of guys” who came in dead last of all the Power 4 in the 68th-ranked spot.

Fox Jr. is a big reason why the Mountaineers are on a two-game winning streak and playing for a bowl berth. The true freshman quarterback is looking more and more like the future of the WVU program.
