Rich Rodriguez seems to be reaching his wit's end when it comes to West Virginia's defensive performance. On Saturday, the Mountaineers lost their third consecutive game, falling 52-31 to Arizona. And for the third straight week, the team's defensive performance stood out like a sore thumb, allowing 482 yards and 9.5 yards per play.

West Virginia fans are fed up with what they're seeing from the defense, with sign in the stands at Milan Puskar Stadium joining with fans online who are all calling for the program to hand defensive coordinator Zac Alley a pink slip.

And while Rodriguez said a change at play-caller on defense won't be made "at this time" on Saturday after the game, it's clear that he is sharing many of the same thoughts as the fan base regarding the defensive performance.

Rich Rodriguez blasts defensive performance once again, expresses frustrations

During his post-game press conference, Rodriguez blasted the defensive performance for the third straight week, and said that some "long conversations" would be had this weekend. He also acknowledged that he's very frustrated with what is currently going on.

"The level of frustration which, everyone involved in this program, is probably at an all-time high," Rodriguez said after the game.

"I don't blame the fans being upset when they hand the ball off, one guy is out of the gap, and he goes sixty yards untouched. I inquired what it was and I was told one guy was out of the gap, but where are the other ten guys? Can they not rally to the ball...it's ridiculous."

Rodriguez didn't seem interest in making an immediate change on defense after the game on Saturday. That may or may not change by the time game prep really begins for Cincinnati at the start of this week. But one thing fans can be assured of is that Rodriguez seems to be just as upset as the fanbase is regarding what's happening defensively with the Mountaineers.
