Pete Thamel: West Virginia football coaching decision coming in next 24-48 hours
By Joseph Smith
Moments ago, ESPN national college football insider Pete Thamel reported that West Virginia has completed in-person interviews for their football program's head coach opening and are expected to make an official decision in 24-48 hours.
It is rumored that the final candidates are Army head coach Jeff Monken and Jacksonville State head coach Rich Rodriguez -- Rodriguez is a West Virginia native who previously led the program from 2001-2007, going 60-26 and making five bowl appearances.
Other rumored favorite, Penn State offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki, seemingly removed himself from the running Monday, with rumors indicating he was the front-runner for the job but was unwilling to leave the Nittany Lions before they finish the College Football Playoff.
WVU Hall of Famer and current head coach of the UFL's St. Louis Battlehawks, Anthony Becht, also reportedly interviewed for the gig.
