Rumors ran rampant on Monday that current Penn State offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki was the favorite for the West Virginia football head coaching gig. It was even reported by Mike Asti of WV Sports Now that he believed the job was Kotelnicki's to lose.
But on Monday evening, after rumors circulated that he had lost momentum in the WVU search, Kotelnicki posted on his account on Twitter/X that he is "lucky" to be apart of the program, that there is "a lot to accomplish" this season, and that he is looking forward to 2025.
Beyond lucky to be a part of the Penn State Football Family. Still a lot to accomplish this season and I am looking forward to what 2025 has in store for our program! #WeAre

Rumors also indicate that Kotelnicki was the favorite but WVU wanted him to begin the job immediately, but Kotelnicki was committed to finishing out the season in the College Football Playoff with Penn State before taking the gig.
Going to add that I heard Kotelnicki did not love the thought of having to leave Penn State before the CFP. I also heard from another source completely when asking about this that WVU thought it was him playing hardball. https://t.co/olJwwZy5yt
