Pat McAfee Trolls Pitt Fans At College GameDay With 'Country Roads'

Pat McAfee just won't simmer down.

The former Mountaineer kicker and WVU Sports Hall of Famer already had his chance to troll Pitt fans earlier in the week as he hosted Pat Narduzzi, head coach of the Panthers, on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday, where he taunted Narduzzi over both his team's loss to the Mountaineers in The Backyard Brawl in September, as well as the men's basketball loss for Pitt in The Backyard Brawl on Thursday night,

But when the Pittsburgh native traveled with College GameDay to his native city ahead of a Top 25 showdown between Pitt and Notre Dame at Acrisure Stadium on Saturday, he couldn't help but take one more time to mess with Pitt fans. With the crew set up on North Shore and a picturesque view of downtown Pittsburgh as the backdrop, McAfee hyped up Pitt's football culture and history ahead of the Notre Dame showdown, and led the fans in a "P-I-T-T" chant before ushering in the singing of Sweet Caroline, a well-known tradition for fans of both WVU and Pitt.

This is where the trolling began, as McAfee started to yell the word "eat" while the chorus played, hinting at WVU's NSFW chant directed at their arch-rival which accompanies any rendition of Sweet Caroline in Morgantown. Then, after finishing up, McAfee said he had "one more" before attempting to lead the crowd in a rendition of "Take Me Home, Country Roads."

Earlier this year, McAfee pulled off a similar feat with a regional rival of the Mountaineers in Pennsylvania, when he led the crowd at State College in singing "Country Roads" as McAfee accepted his WVU Sports Hall of Fame induction via video. This time, though, the crowd wasn't having it, and Pitt fans voraciously booed McAfee before showering "13-9" chants upon him – referencing WVU's infamous loss in the 2007 Backyard Brawl that knocked the team out of National Championship contention, a game which McAfee played in for the Mountaineers.
