It's always great to see WVU football alumni earn the opportunity to stand out at the next level, and former Mountaineer Zach Frazier has been making the most of his opportunity in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, his new quarterback is already impressed with the second-year pro.
Frazier, a Fairmont, W.Va native, was selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Steelers after spending four seasons starting for the Mountaineers. He quickly found his way into the starting lineup as a rookie, and went on to have a campaign that garnered awards within the organization and from members of the media alike.
Frazier has been predicted to be a breakout star this upcoming season, and new Pittsburgh quarterback and NFL legend Aaron Rodgers had nothing but the highest levels of praise for Frazier after working with him so far during training camp.

"Zach is a highly intelligent player. And it helps, because as much as I have a good feel for the offense, I'm not what I would call an expert in the offense yet," Rodgers said. "Zach is so freaking smart, he's making some call for me. I told him the other day, I said, 'don't get use to that. At some point, I'm going to be making the calls for you.' But he's got a really good disposition for a center and he's obviously a talented player."
Rodgers is looking forward to seeing Frazier step into a large leadership role inside the locker room for the Steelers, which he already sees as the next step in Frazier's development as an NFL star.
"I think he leadership is what I'd like to see most continue to grow, because leadership often grows at the same rate as performance. Everyone knows what kind of player he is, so he's going to have more opportunities to lead," Rodgers added.
