Former West Virginia football center and Fairmont, W.Va-native Zach Frazier just earned an incredible honor as his rookie season in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers nears it's end.

It was announced on Tuesday that the Pittsburgh Chapter of Pro Football Writers of America have awarded Frazier with the Joe Greene Great Performance Award. The award was created in 1984 and named after a legendary Steelers Hall of Famer in Greene -- it is annually presented to the topp rookie player for the Steelers.

Frazier becomes just the second center to win the award, following in the footsteps of the legendary Maurkice Pouncey who won the award in 2010. He is just the sixth offensive lineman to win the award and the first since 2012. He joins other legendary recipients of the award such as Alan Faneca, Troy Polamalu, Ben Roethlisberger, and Heath Miller.

Frazier has started all 14 games he has been able to appear in for Pittsburgh this season, missing two with an injury -- he had previously been a four-year starter at WVU.

"I just know how much offensive line means to the Pittsburgh Steelers, their long tradition of having great o-linemen and great offensive lines," said Frazier following his selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. "It's special.
