To say WVU basketball fans are excited about Miles Sadler would be an understatement. And honestly? They should be.

Sadler is a five-star guard and is one of the top players in his class, and became the top-rated recruit in program history this past fall when announced his intent to play for Ross Hodge and the Mountaineers.

But Sadler then impressed even more once his senior season was underway, and he eventually lead Bella Vista Prep to the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) Championship and the Chipotle Nationals championship while also earning EYBL Player of the Year honors.

He then starred at the prestigious Nike Hoops Summit, where he led all scorers with 29 points on the World team. But there was one honor he didn't earn – an invite to the McDonald's All-American Game.

WVU basketball's top-rated recruit felt disrespected by McDonald's All-American omission

Sadler sat down with the 3 Guys Before The Game podcast earlier this week, and the topic of being overlooked as a McDonald's All-American came up. And he didn't sugarcoat the fact he felt like he deserved an invitation to the game.

"You guys know that the McDonald's rosters came out, and I was watching live, actually," Sadler said. "Because I was like, I got to make it. I'm number 21 in the country right now, there's 24 spots in the game. I got to make it right?"

"I think I didn't talk to anyone for like three days. Three days I was all to myself, I was like, nah, because there's no way I didn't make this. The next however many games we had, I wasn't losing. I knew, I was willing to prove myself, to prove why I'm the biggest snub of all-time."

And it's hard to argue with him that he was snubbed. Because all of those other aforementioned accomplishments? They came after Sadler was not invited to the McDonald's All-American Game. To this day, he's still not sure why he was overlooked, but the way he used it as motivation for such an incredible finish to his senior season suggests he's the exact type of talent that will thrive at the collegiate level.

"I don't have a reason. I don't have a clue why I was not on the list," Sadler said. "Canadians have been in it before...it doesn't make too much sense to me, but I feel like my production didn't lie this year. So if that's the way they want to call it, it's up to them."

"There's always going to be something. I'm personally looking for the smallest things to tick me off. So as long as I get some sort of hate from somebody, I feel like I'm going to be at my best that game. In life I'm going to be a happy kid, a very joyful, fun to be around guy. But when it's game time, I have a different mode that I'm just looking for violence, looking for beef."
