The moment West Virginia basketball fans have been waiting for has finally arrived.

The Mountaineers had been pursuing one of the most elite talents in prep basketball in the Class of 2026 in Miles Sadler, a Toronto, Ontario native currently playing at Bella Vista Prep in Arizona. On Sunday, Sadler made his official decision on where to attend college, and to the delight of everyone in Morgantown, he chose the Mountaineers. He credited the first-year staff at West Virginia and their faith in him as a talent that can play early in his career as the deciding factor in his choice.

"Just the coaching staff. Coach Ross told me from day one he doesn't feel like I'm a guy who has to wait," Sadler said. "I feel like small guards are still a thing, and I'm living proof of that."

Sadler is the highest-rated recruit in program history to commit to the Mountaineers, and joins a 2026 class that includes his high school teammate Aliou Dioum, as well as three-star guard Kingston Whitty.

Sadler is a five-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite rankings, and the 26th-best Class of 2026 player in the nation, as well as the third-best point guard in his class. Sadler has previously been coached by West Virginia assistant coach Yusuf Ali. His final decision came down to the Mountaineers and five other teams – Maryland, Oklahoma, Tennessee, UCLA, and USC.

"Throughout the years, this is one kid that's continued to prove he is among the very best guard and point guards in the national Class of 2026," said CBS Sports analyst Travis Branham said before Sadler committed.

"I think he might be the best on-ball defender in the class," CBS Sports College basketball Director of Scouting Travis Finkelstein added. "He's a real alpha-type of competitor."

Sadler got a chance to visit Morgantown and take in the sights and sounds during the football team's Coal Rush game against TCU at the end of October, and he was also present for the basketball team's inaugural Ballin' At Woodburn preseason event.
