Sources with ties to Indiana basketball have told HailWV that those with the Indiana athletic department have kept their coaching search "completely locked down" but that the Hoosiers "likely already have their guy."
However, none of those sources seem to have a strong indication one way or another as to who exactly the next coach will be. A consensus seems to have formed, however, that no one is neccesarily "confident" that current West Virginia Head Coach Darian DeVries has been chosen.

Many believe Indiana "likely already has their guy" but no one seems to know who it is. #HailWV
As a follow-up, while everyone believes the coach has already been selected, no one seems "confident" it is for sure Darian DeVries. #HailWV

This follows news over the past 24 hours from both CBS Sports/247 Sports affiliate EerSports and from national insider Jeff Goodman with Field of 68, which indicated DeVries has risen as a frontrunner for the opening in Bloomington, a blue blood program with significant resources.
The bright side for WVU fans amidst the uncertainty with DeVries is that he is officially out of the mix at another Big 10 opening at Iowa, which is the flagship program in his native state and his brother's alma mater. Their are also rumors DeVries has turned down an interview with the Hawkeyes, which bodes well for his potential commitment to WVU.
DeVries had to rebuild his roster from scratch through the portal in his first year at West Virginia, helming a program on it's third coach in three years that had finished their previous season with a historically bad nine wins.
Despite losing his second-leading scorer (and son) Tucker DeVries for the season in December a losing another probable starter in Jayden Stone during the preseason, the Mountaineers used an undersized rotation often just eight players deep to finish 19-13 overall and 10-10 in Big 12 play, narrowly missing the tournament in a historic snub which has caused outrage. DeVries was recently named NABC East District Co-Coach of the Year for his efforts.
