The NFL preseason has kicked off and teams are cycling through getting some starters reps to knock off the rust and getting some backups an opportunity to impress in a real-game situation.
During the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars preseason game on Saturday, four former WVU football players got a chance to reunite and see each other for the first time all-together on an NFL team. Representing the Steelers were cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr., center Zach Frazier, and offensive lineman Doug Nester. Representing the Jaguars, meanwhile, was offensive lineman Wyatt Milum, the 89th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Following the game, they managed to all snap a picture together after the game, which was tweeted by the official West Virginia Football account on X, formerly known as Twitter.

All four former Mountaineers were dressed for the preseason game. The last time that all four were on the same field at the same time was the 2023 WVU season. Following the 2023 season, Frazier would be the 51st pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Bishop Jr. was a undrafted free agent that broke onto the scene for the Steelers in 2024, and Nester was also a undrafted free agent signing for the Steelers. Bishop Jr. racked up five total tackles in his first action of the 2025 preseason/
All four former WVU players have good chances to make the 53-man roster
Starting with the Mountaineers on the Steelers, Frazier is the starting center for Steelers, snapping the ball to four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers in his first season with the Steelers. Rodgers had high praise for the former Mountaineer recently.
“Zach is a highly intelligent player...Zach is so freaking smart,” Rodgers said about Frazier.
Bishop Jr. is also expected to be a contributing piece for the Steelers. Bishop Jr. recorded 30 solo tackles, 15 assisted tackles, seven passes defensed, and four interceptions in his rookie campaign. ESPN has Bishop Jr. as the backup to seven-time Pro Bowler Jalen Ramsey.
ESPN is also predicting that the third former Mountaineer on the Steelers will make the 53-man roster cut, predicting that Nester will be third string right tackle behind Troy Fautanu and Dylan Cook.
Lastly, Milum is almost a shoo-in to make the 53-man roster for Jaguars. After being selected with the 83rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Milum should be vying for a starting position at either left or right guard. ESPN is predicting Milum to be the second string left guard behind Ezra Cleveland.
All said, there is a really good chance all four Mountaineers will make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason. Bishop Jr., Frazier, and Nester begin their season as the Steelers start their season on the road against the Jets on September 7. Milum and the Jaguars kick off their season hosting the Carolina Panters on September 7. WVU fans will be checking in to see how the former Mountaineers are faring in the NFL.
