In an overtime victory against the Bulls on Thursday, former Mountaineer guard Miles McBride racked up 23 points in the Knicks win.

The Cincinnati, Ohio, native is in his 4th season in the NBA, having his best season. McBride is averaging 9.3 points per game, 2.4 assists per game, and is shooting 42% from the floor and 37.7% from three-point range.

McBride has spent all four seasons in New York with the Knicks. Since McBride was selected with the 36th overall pick by the New York Knicks in 2021, he has steadily improved his points per game, assists per game, and rebounds per game each year in New York while averaging more minutes per game as well.

In addition to his offensive numbers increasing every year, McBride has improved his defensive rating each year since his second season in the NBA.

In a career year, former WVU star records his season high in points on Thursday

McBride, who spent two years in Morgantown (the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons) is among the best players in recent program history. McBride joins the likes of a fellow NBA guard who is a former Mountaineer, Jevon Carter. Carter is currently in his seventh year in the NBA. Carter recorded his season’s best performance back in December 2024.

During his freshman season, McBride played with some very recognized former WVU players. McBride played along with players such as Oscar Tshiebwe, Derek Culver, Emmitt Matthews Jr., and Jalen Bridges, who has also earned a chance at the NBA. The Mountaineers went 21-10 in that season before Covid-19 canceled all remaining games.

McBride’s junior season was spent with all the above-mentioned players minus Tshiebwe. The Mountaineers went 19-10 that season and then were eliminated from the NCAA tournament in the Round of 32 by Syracuse, who featured future Mountaineer Jesse Edwards.

McBride’s Knicks return to action Saturday for a matchup against the Celtics in Boston.
