Former West Virginia Mountaineer basketball star Jevon Carter has carved himself a nice role in the NBA, as he is in the midst of his seventh-season in the league with 391 career appearances and 48 career starts to his name.
Typically, Carter doesn’t tend to be the flashiest or most important player on the roster -- he averages just 15.5 minutes per game and 5.2 points per game over his career. But occasionally, he’ll show up with a performance that demonstrates that he can hang with the best players in the league and deserves a spot on just about any roster.
Carter had one of those nights on Thursday as he played a major role in the Chicago Bulls 141-133 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. The Bulls fell behind early 9-2 before Carter entered the game and helped take control of the affair -- he proceeded to drop 19 points in the first quarter of action alone, including 6 three-point buckets. The Bulls would end up with a 33-21 lead at the end of the first period.
The Bulls would maintain that lead until the fourth quarter -- carrying a 17-point lead into the final 12 minutes of play -- but the Hawks would post a 50-point fourth quarter that allowed them to come from behind and snag the victory.
Carter would finish as the Bulls second-leading scorer on the night with an individual season high of 26 points total in the game, and he would convert 7 three-pointers in the win. He is only averaging 6.9 minutes per game and 3.4 points per game so far this season. Carter and the Bulls will be back in action against Carter’s former team, the Milwaukee Bucks, at 8 P.M. EST on Saturday night.
