Mainly known these days for making plays on the baseball diamond for the St. Louis Cardinals, one former WVU baseball player has made sure to continue his growth as a music artist during the 2025 MLB season.
Victor Scott II is one of the best defensive outfielders in the entire MLB, but he also harbors ambitions to be one of the hottest hip-hop artists in the genre. Scott II, who uses the stage name 'Argo' when performing music, recently released his sixth studio album on August 14. The 10-song, 26-minute project is titled Not Your Average Rapper 2. It's the second album he's released this year, serving as a follow-up to his April 2025 project Not Your Average Rapper. One of the songs on Scott II’s new album also includes rising Tampa Rays prospect Chandler Simpson as a guest feature.

Despite the rising star's attention towards two careers at once, it's not having a negative effect on his ability on the diamond. Most will know Scott II from his countless plays roaming around the outfield for the Cardinals. One of the best defensive outfielders in the game right now, Scott II is also having one of his best seasons at the dish in his young Major League career. His batting average, on-base percentage, slugging, and OPS are all considerably up in his second season at the big league. There is still room for improvement, but it is definitely fair to say that he took a big step forward offensively from 2024 to this season.
Defense is where Scott II makes his presence known. Looking at his Baseball Savant page, there is red all over his defensive metrics (the red marks areas that a player is at the top of the league in percentile rankings). Scott II ranks in the 99th percentile in outs above average with 16. That is good for third for all outfielders in the MLB. In addition to his outs above average, Scott II ranks in the 71st percentile in MLB in arm strength with an average throw of 87.9 mph. Lastly, posting a 30.2 feet per second sprint speed, Scott II ranks in the 100th percentile for his sprint speed.
Now Scott II can add another album and an ever-burgeoning music career to his list of accomplishments. Scott II is making waves on the field for his dominating play in the field and is now trying to make his name known in the music industry. WVU fans should wish nothing but the best for Scott II and as he represents WVU well at the big-league level.
