Former West Virginia University shooting guard Erik Stevenson has been selected to participate in the NBA G League "Up Next" Game on Friday. As a part of NBA All-Star weekend, Stevenson will represent the Capital City Go-Go in the "Up Next" Game.

Joining the ranks of guards at the next level hailing from WVU like Jevon Carter and Miles McBride, the former WVU guard is making a push to jump to the NBA. The former Mountaineer is having a career year this season for the Go-Go -- Stevenson had his best game so far this season on November 24, 2024 when he scored 36 points and added 2 assists and 2 rebounds. So far this season for the Capital City Go-Go, Stevenson is averaging 15 points per game while also adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game.

Stevenson played for the Mountaineers during the 2022-23 season and was named to the All-Big 12 Third Team in his one year with the program. He averaged 15.4 points per game with WVU and was a pivotal scorer for the Mountaineers during his stint in Morgantown.

The 2022-23 Mountaineers made the NCAA Tournament as a 9-seed in legendary coach Bob Huggins' final season, drawing a matchup against 8-seed Maryland. Unfortunately, WVU did not make it past the Terrapins in the first round of the tournament.

In Feb. 2024, while playing for the Austin Spurs, an NBA G League team, Stevenson discussed the life-long connection he would have to WVU on the West Virginia MetroNews '3 Guys Before The Game' podcast.

“We’re everywhere,” Stevenson said on the podcast. “There will be random people, like we'll be in other gyms, and a janitor will be West Virginia tied, or a security guy in another gym, and I'll be like, how's it going," Stevenson said.

As a fanbase that loves to cheer on former players, Mountaineer Nation will be keeping an eye on Stevenson and he gets called up to make his NBA debut soon. Until then, they can catch Stevenson next Sunday, February 16th at 3:30 PM EST on Tubi.
