Returning to West Virginia this season, head coach Rich Rodriguez, in his first high school recruiting class since returning, has signed a large high school recruiting class. This past week, he added a three-star linebacker to that list.

From Gastonia, North Carolina, linebacker Caleb Gordon is one of the latest commitments landing with WVU for the recruiting class of 2026. The linebacker announced his commitment last Monday via X. Gordon is a three-star linebacker according to 247Sports, ranked as the 170th-ranked linebacker in the 2026 class and the 60th-ranked recruit in North Carolina.

WVU claimed the commitment from Gordon over 18 other scholarship offers from other schools. Virginia, Liberty, Appalachian State, Arkansas, and Clemson were other notable schools that Gordon passed on to make his commitment to WVU.

Headlined by the highly impactful four-star offensive lineman Kevin Brown, WVU is up to 34 high school and JUCO players. Gordon will join other linebackers Miles Khatri and Antoine Sharp in the 2026 class.

Standing at 6-foot and 215 pounds, Gordon might be a little undersized, but he will certainly have the chance to develop in the strength and conditioning program at WVU. Gordon’s high school film shows that he likes to play in the gaps and plays downhill from his linebacker spot.

Rodriguez is building a strong high school class in his first year since returning to his alma mater. Following through on his plan that he set earlier in the season, Rodriguez is bringing a lot of high school talent into the program after this season. With 33 total recruits committed to WVU at this time, and room to add a few more, Rodriguez has certainly followed through on his plan to focus on high school recruiting.
