The West Virginia Mountaineers secured one of the best offensive tackle prospects in the Class of 2026 as they landed a commitment from four-star Harrisonburg (PA) product Kevin Brown on Tuesday. Brown, whose father played for current Mountaineers head coach Rich Rodriguez during his first stint in Morgantown, announced his decision live on The Pat McAfee Show on ESPN, hosted by WVU Hall-of-Famer Pat McAfee. His father and the rest of his family joined him for the announcement.
"I've been praying about it, thinking about it, talking to my parents, talking to coaches, and it's clear to me where I have to go. And I'm committing for the next 3-4 years to the University of West Virginia, baby."

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Brown is the fifth-best offensive tackle in the nation and the second-best player in the state of Pennsylvania in his recruiting class. Brown had initially committed to the Penn State Nittany Lions, but re-opened his recruitment after head coach James Franklin was fired by the program, and he then officially de-committed from Penn State this past Sunday.
"The past two months, texting ten coaches a day – yeah it's stressful. But I'm blessed – very blessed," Brown said.
Brown's father, Tim Brown, also weighed in on the situation around his son's recruitment, and made it pretty clear that this wouldn't have happened if some of the previous coaches since Rodriguez left in 2007 were still around the program, and called it a "blessing" for his son that Franklin was fired.
"It's been a tough process, because the situation at West Virginia hasn't been good the last couple years and it's been tough with the last couple coaches. Once [Coach] Rod came in, my stomach dropped because...he was already committed to Penn State. It's been heartbreaking for me since he was sophomore since he committed so early," Brown said. "Then Franklin got fired and the all the situation at Penn State fell apart, and it's been such a blessing, actually."
