WVU football head coach Rich Rodriguez has struggled in his first season back with the Mountaineers, and there has been a lot of talk about which moves should be made over the course of the rest of the season following the recent bye week to best prepare for the future.

Well, it appears at least some attention was paid to the younger guys on the team this past week while the Mountaineers were off from action – and while it's hard to make exactly what will come of it, if anything, head coach Rich Rodriguez seemed happy with the results.

Rodriguez was asked on Monday night on The Rich Rodriguez Show exactly what focus was put toward the underclassmen and reserves while the team had a bit of extra practice time without a game to prepare for, and the Mountaineers' head coach shared that the team actually dedicated a chunk of practice one day during the bye week to letting those players get into a live scrimmage that allowed them to showcase their development this fall.

"We ended Tuesday's practice with a 20, 25 play scrimmage with the younger guys and it was pretty spirited," Rodriguez said.

The veteran head coach also noted that the scrimmage was not only spirited, but gave him a few revelations about players who are potentially ready to make an impact with the team – although in true Rodriguez fashion since returning to the program, no names were specifically highlighted.

"It was good, there were a couple young guys who stood out," Rodriguez said.

Fans will want to pay close attention as the Mountaineers hit the field this weekend against UCF to see if any of the players who haven't seen a ton of playing time this season crack into the rotation now that it's been made clear that at least a few younger guys impressed the staff this past week.
