WVU football has been plagued with injuries all season, and the news is not getting better.

Coming off the bye week, both the coaching staff and fans likely hoped some more healthy faces would emerge, but that is unfortunately not the case for Wes Virginia. On The Rich Rodriguez Show on Monday night, the Mountaineers' head coach shared an update on the injury situation, which included a bleak outlook for one of the team's top remaining running backs, a defensive player lost for the season, and further quarterback injury news.

Rodriguez said that running back Tye Edwards – who cemented himself in Backyard Brawl lore by exploding for 141 yards and three touchdowns in a comeback victory over Pitt – is still struggling significantly with his hip pointer injury, and that he'll be traveling to Alabama to see a specialist because the injury is "just not healing right." Edwards missed the Kansas and Utah games and saw just two carries against BYU.

"He really wants to play," Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez also disclosed that linebacker Ashton Woods, who left the BYU game with an injury, will be unable to return this season. In addition, further information was disclosed about the quarterback room, including confirmation on the extent of Nicco Marchiol's injury and a timeline on the return of two other quarterbacks struggling with injuries, though no official update was given on whether he plans to leave the program as initially reported by multiple sources.

"Nicco is out for the year with a foot injury, and Jaylen Henderson has been out, he's doubtful this week...Max Brown is probable," Rodriguez said.

It seems that injuries will likely plague this team for the rest of the season, and Rodriguez and his staff will have to find a way to contend with it.
