No one knows what some of the players currently hitting the transfer portal at West Virginia are thinking better than their teammates.

Brandon Yates, who was the starting center for WVU in 2024, took to Twitter on Thursday to dispel rumors about players in the portal, and he happened to mention that he does believe some players may be willing to return to the program in the long-term if new Head Coach Rich Rodriguez decides to accept them back. His thoughts on the matter appear below.

It's not exactly uncommon in the new era to see a player hit the portal, shop and compare NIL deals, but return to their original program -- with student-athletes slowly turning into what most normal professions would consider employees, it can be argued it's not much different than taking job interviews and comparing offers to your current place of employment before deciding to stay or go.

While it is certain to be contentious among parts of the fanbase, it's likely most players will be welcomed back by fans if they re-affirm their commitment to the program and state and have success on the field.
