The West Virginia Mountaineers put together a nationally touted high school signing class this offseason, and one of the top prospects that the Mountaineers signed was Kevin Brown.

Brown, a four-star prospect and the son of former West Virginia and NFL lineman Tim Brown, was one of the top-ranked offensive tackles in the Class of 2026. Brown had initially signed with the Penn State Nittany Lions before the program fired James Franklin mid-season, which caused Brown to re-open his recruitment.

Now, Brown is already in Morgantown as one of several members of an exceptionally large 2026 signing class who enrolled early for the spring semester. And from the looks of things, he's already looking quite impressive in offseason workouts.

Rich Rodriguez welcomes offensive lineman with exceptional strength

The Mountaineers posted a video of Wednesday afternoon to their social media pages of Brown achieving quite the impressive feat, especially for a true freshman who should still be getting ready for his senior prom.

Brown was captured on video completing a back squat rep with a jaw-dropping 645 pounds on the bar. And if you don't know much about weightlifting but that sounds like an impressively heavy number to be squatting, you'd be correct.

Any football coach worth their salt will tell you that those are elite numbers for a true freshman at the college level, and that type of strength will be welcomed with open arms by head coach Rich Rodriguez after he grew increasingly frustrated with his team's offensive line play last season during a disappointing 4-8 campaign.

It's probably too early in this process to say that Brown will fully live up to the hype surrounding him. And it's not something you can really answer by looking at someon'es squat max. But you can assume that things are off to a pretty good start for his collegiate career if he's putting up those number already.

Spring football is set to start next weekend for the Mountaineers, so more answers on what to expect from Brown and the incoming freshman class will hoepfully arrive soon.
