The West Virginia Mountaineers are continuing to see names pile up that plan to hit the transfer portal once it opens on January, taking several hits to their defensive depth over the past few days.
The most recent name came in the form of junior linebacker Caleb Nuhi-Yandall, who was a fall camp addition to the roster for the Mountaineers. Nuhi-Yandall appeared in just two games for the Mountaineers this past season, recording one tackle in Week 4 against the Kansas Jayhawks. He joined the Mountaineers after a sophomore stint at Cerritos College, where he finished the season with 52 tackles, and will have 2-3 years of eligibility remaining pending the outcome of a current lawsuit seeking extra eligibility for former JUCO players.
I will be entering the transfer portal on January 2nd with 2-3 years of eligibility left. Thank you WVU for the opportunity.

Joining him during the previous two days were WVU defensive end Adam Tomczyk and safety William Davis. Tomczyk played in seven games for the Mountaineers this season as mostly a reserve, recording a season-high 14 snaps against Robert Morris and finishing the season with three tackles. At his previous stop at Cerritos, playing alongside Nuhi-Yandall, Tomczyk recorded 43 tackles (9 TFLs) and four sacks.
Davis joined the Mountaineers after spending most of his collegiate career at Division 2 Virginia Union, where he was a first-team All-CIAA selection in 2024. He recorded no stats for WVU this season after playing in just one game for the Mountaineers. In total, 16 players who finished the season on the roster for WVU football have announced their intent to hit the portal so far.
