Less than 48 hours ahead of the 2025 season opener against Robert Morris for the West Virginia Mountaineers, we now know what uniform combination the team will don -- and it's one that fans haven't had the chance to see in awhile.
WVU football dropped a uniform reveal video on Thursday evening on their social media accounts, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect when the Mountaineers take the field on Saturday. And in conjunction with the afternoon's Gold Rush fan promotion, which encourages fans to wear gold to the stadium, West Virginia will suit up in an all-gold jersey/pants combination along with the return of the glossy blue helmet.

The Mountaineers will wear the blue helmet, gold jersey, and gold pants together for the first time in eight years, with the last appearance for this particular combination coming when the Mountaineers hosted East Carolina back in 2017. The Mountaineers would rout the Pirates 56-20 on that day, and historically the combination sees more wins than losses -- WVU is 7-3 all-time when wearing the gold-blue-blue uniform set.
Of course, the biggest storyline entering Week 1 isn't what uniform the Mountaineers will wear, but rather the fact that Rich Rodriguez returns to the sidelines to coach a game in Morgantown for the first time since his departure from his alma mater in 2007.
What the team wears has little fallout on exactly how successful the team on the field is, but when you have uniform combinations that look as slick as the Mountaineers, it's always fun to see what combination shows up each week. Now, fans will have to see if that uniform set remains a winning one for WVU.
