Two more players were reported to be departing the WVU football program for the transfer portal on Wednesday night, bringing the total number set to leave the program to seven players in the past 48 hours and 36 total since the 2025 season ended.

The latest two Mountaineers to hit the portal both registered at least one start with the program. Quarterback Jaylen Henderson, who appeared in five games and started against Utah before being replaced by Khalil Wilkins at halftime, announced on Wednesday evening he will enter the portal and find new home for his remaining season of eligibility. He will be the third quarterback from the team to hit the portal in addition to Wilkins and Nicco Marchiol, who also both started last season. The Mountaineers are set to add three freshman in their 2026 signing class at the position.

Henderson finished the season 7-of-18 for passing for 50 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He also added 146 rushing yards and one touchdown with his legs.

He will be joined in the portal by defensive lineman Asani Redwood. Redwood made 40 appearances over four seasons in Morgantown, and started eight games, including the final stretch of the 2025 season. He finished the year with 23 tackles (1 TFL), and finished his stint at WVU with 47 tackles (5.5 TFLs) and 2.5 sacks.

Redwood is the fifth defensive lineman to enter the portal, and the second starter to do so after Hammond Russell IV entered the portal earlier on Wednesday. The Mountaineers will add seven players at the position with their 2026 signing class, including three JUCO players.
