A pair of brothers with College Football Playoff experience will be transferring into WVU football from an SEC program.
Less than a week after a Crystal Ball prediction from 247Sports predicted the move was coming, reports indicate that Oklahoma quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. has committed to the Mountaineers, and that he will be joined by his brother and Sooners defensive back Maliek Hawkins.

Michael Hawkins Jr. spent his first two seasons with the Sooners, starting five games and making nine appearances for the program during his time in Norman. Over his career, Hawkins has thrown for 950 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions with the Sooners, and also added 262 yards and two touchdowns in the run game. Coming out of high school, he was a four-star prospect, and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Maliek Hawkins, meanwhile, was a defensive back for the Sooners last year, but saw action in just one game for the team and preserves all four seasons of eligibility. He was initially recruited by current WVU defensive coordinator Zac Alley and nickels coach Henry Weinreich during their time at Oklahoma, but the pair left the program for the Mountaineers before coaching Hawkins.
The pair become the fourth and fifth transfer portal acquisitions for the Mountaineers, as WVU looks to replace a large chunk of players that have departed for the portal or exhausted their eligibility. Each are the first player to join the team at their respective positions out of the transfer portal.
