Through the first six games, one of the most explosive offensive players has struggled to get consistently involved in the West Virginia Mountaineers' offense.

Jacksonville State transfer Cam Vaughn has made several nice plays to begin his 2025 campaign with WVU football, including a big game in Week 1, but head coach Rich Rodriguez – who coached Vaughn at Jacksonville State before returning home – must be itching to find more ways to get the playmaker the ball more in games.

Vaughn is leading the team with 19 receptions, 320 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. He is the only Mountaineer with more than 15 catches, 140 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns. Averaging 16.8 yards per reception, Vaughn is a proven playmaker who can make chunk plays.

Before WVU, Vaughn recorded 48 receptions, 803 receiving yards, and five touchdowns in 17 games over his sophomore season and was named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list before the start of the 2025 season. The speedy receiver averaged 16.7 yards per catch and 57.4 yards per game.

Whether it be wide receiver screens, jet sweeps, schemed targets, or any other strategy, the goal must be to get the ball in one of your best players on offense. Since the injuries to Jahiem White and Jaden Bray, Vaughn is very likely to be the most talented player WVU has on offense, and he needs to be given more chances to make his impact on the game.

Hopefully, with the bye week this week, Rodriguez can have a chance to strategize and scheme up more ways to give one of the best playmakers on the WVU offense the ball more.
