The West Virginia Mountaineers may have a major piece of it's offensive engine during the first half of Saturday's game against the Ohio Bobcats.
Starting WVU football running back Jahiem White, who led the Mountaineers in rushing with 93 yards and two touchdowns in their season opener against Robert Morris, suffered an undisclosed injury during the second quarter in Athens. After White spent time in th medcal tent on the sideline, the game was paused to allow White to be carted off the field, which could be a sign of bad news for WVU fans.

White has been the source of plenty of offseason hype after being a critical piece in a rushing attack that saw himself and current Ohio State running back CJ Donaldson Jr. split carries for the Mountaineers during the past two seasons. White ran for over 1,600 yards and 11 touchdowns combined over the past two years, and was named to multiple award watch lists and preseason all-conference and All-America teams ahead of this season.
Clay Ash, the 2025 Tommy Nickolich Award winner and second string backup, has seemed to fill in as the main back since the injury. As of the writing of this article, no other running backs have taken a snap for the Mountaineers. WVU is in a tight battle with the Bobcats currently, trailing 17-10 in the third quarter as of the time that this article was published
