WVU football has landed another commitment out of the transfer portal on Sunday, this time further adding to their offensive backfield.

WVU adds former leading prep rusher in Arizona in Kayden Luke

Luke, a 5-foot-11, 255-pound fullback, joins the Mountaineers after spending his first two collegiate seasons in his home state with the Wildcats. He made 25 appearances for the Wildcats during his stint with the program, playing in 19 games on offense and all 25 games on special teams. In 2024, he finished the season ith five carries for 11 yards, but wasn't utilized as a ballcarrier this past year.

Luke was a prestigious high school athlete in Arizona, playing running back and linebacker for Canyon del Oro and helping lead the program to a Class 4A State Championship while pacing the state in rushing with 2,307 yards and 29 touchdowns while adding 66 tackles on defense. He was also a prominent high school wrestler, capturing a state championship in the 215-pound weight class. Canyon del Oro was also the high school attended by former Arizona and NFL star Ka'Deem Carey, who played running back for Rodriguez during his stint with coaching the Wildcats.

Luke is a former walk-on with the Wildcats, and goes by the nickname "Big Red" due to his hair color. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining as makes the move to the Mountaineers.
