WVU football fans had to sit through the sixth loss of the season for their team as the Mountaineers dropped a close 23-17 loss to TCU. But the mood about the team among the fan base does seem to have improved after the loss.

West Virginia put up a good fight against TCU after struggling to do so through the first four games of Big 12 play. Things weren't perfect, obviously, and you don't want to put too much stock into a loss. But it's not hard to be excited to see this type of life from WVU just a week after many fans were writing off the season as a complete wash and Rodriguez was hoping the team had hit their low point for the season.

And it seems that is a common sentiment among the fan base after the game. There wasn't a lot of complaining about the team, and there certainly were no more loud calls questioning the decision to re-hire Rodriguez. And there's good reason for that type of reaction, despite the loss.

You don't have to believe in moral victories, but if their is such a thing, this game was one of those. The Mountaineers were pretty competitive, and had multiple opportunities to win the game. They came within six points of the lead by the end of the game and would have had the opportunity for a game-winning drive had they managed a late third-down stop.

The passing offense, which has struggled to produce consistently, looked much improved with Scotty Fox Jr. slinging the ball or 300 yards and two touchdowns. The defense seemed as if it had fixed many issues it had struggled with in conference play. The run game wasn't effective, but it has been previously – and if all those elements can come together at once, there is a foundation for this team to build on. Check out the fanbase's reaction to the close loss below, and let us know how you're feeling after the game.
