WVU football may not have pulled off a win on the gridiron this past Saturday against the Utah Utes, but at least they can walk away from the weekend knowing they might have been the best-dressed team in college football.
Uniswag, an outlet that focuses specifically on news and analysis of college equipment and uniforms, has released their Uniform of the Week award for Week 5, and the West Virginia Mountaineers found themselves honored with the accolade for their sharp looking throwback uniforms commemorating the attire worn by the team 60 years prior in 1965. The uniforms, which might have looked even better in person than in photos,

The Mountaineers' uniform featured a darker-than-usual navy blue jersey top and helmets and pants in an 'old gold' color that has since been abandoned in favor of a brighter gold in the program's every day branding. The helmet was adorned with a retro logo featuring the state's outline in a light blue color with block lettering reading 'WVU' on top of the outline.
The Mountaineers also debuted a ton of limited-edition fan merch in a similar shade of blue as the one featured on the state outline, including rally towels that were handed out to fan ahead of kickoff. Head coach Rich Rodriguez even donned a pullover in the dark navy blue color with the retro logo during the game, prompting one fan to joke that he looked like a guy "whose wife dressed him for a social event he really had no interest in attending."
Unfortunately for WVU fans, the uniform combo was much more enjoyable for fans than the action on the field as WVU got manhandled in a 48-14 loss in the debut of the new jersey.
