WVU football is struck with the injury bug, winless in Big 12 action, and looking for something to go right.

The Mountaineers will have another chance to do so this week but are in a tough position as they travel to face the No. 23 BYU Cougars on Friday evening in a short week with a late-night kickoff. For those looking keep your eyes on the WVU-BYU showdown, here's all the information you’ll need.

The Basics: When And Where

The matchup with BYU is the third road game on the 2025 slate for the Mountaineers, and the second in conference play – West Virginia has gone 0-2 away from Morgantown this season with losses to Ohio and Kansas. The action is set for Friday, October 3 at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah, with an extra-late kickoff time of 10:30 PM EST.

TV, Streaming, and Radio

Those looking to stay up late and catch the game on television will find coverage live on ESPN, and the game can also be streamed live online via ESPN's mobile app or website with a valid subscription. The broadcast commentary team for the game will consist of Anish Schroff, Andrew Ware, and Paul Carcaterra.

There will also be a live radio broadcast of the game, which cane found on all local Mountaineer Sports Network affiliates or The Varsity Network via web browser or smartphone app. This week's coverage will start at 7:30 PM EST with the GoMart Mountaineer Tailgate Show, and will switch over the the official pre-game coverage at 9:30 PM EST. Weather

The forecast for Provo this Friday calls for light rain with a high of 73 degrees and a low of 51 degrees. There will be around a 35 percent chance of rain around the time the game is slated to start, with that chance of precipitation set to go down as night wears on. The temperature is expected to settle at around 61 degrees near kickoff, with wind around nine miles per hour expected as well.

WVU-BYU Series History

The West Virginia Mountaineers and BYU Cougars have met just twice before – the first meeting was a 2016 neutral-site affair in Landover, Maryland, and the latest meeting came in 2023 at Milan Puskar Stadium. The Mountaineers are 2-0 all-time against the Cougars, with the most recent meeting ending in a 37-7 win for WVU. This will be the second time the two have met as conference opponents.
