WVU football has continued their offensive line rebuild on Thursday night by adding a pair of significant transfer prospects in the trenches.
The first big commitment came in the form of UConn offensive tackle Carsten Casady. Casady was a starting tackle for a UConn Huskies team that finished 9-4 last season with wins over Boston College and Duke. He brings a massive 6-foot-7, 300-pound frame and is ranked as the 23rd-best offensive tackle in the portal. He made 21 appearances and 17 starts at UConn, and has yet to allow a sack in his collegiate career. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
The Mountaineers also added an All-Conference USA first-team selection with a commitment from Cameron Griffin. Griffin spent his first three seasons at Jacksonville State, where he played two seasons under current WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez and his entire collegiate career under current WVU offensive line coach Rick Trickett.
Griffin brings experience and versatility to the Mountaineers – he has made 33 appearances and 16 starts over three seasons with the Gamecocks, and started games at left tackle, left guard and center last season. He also has experience playing right guard, and has taken 1,231 collegiate snaps along the offensive line. He also has plenty of knowledge when it comes to blocking within the offensive scheme that Rodriguez and Trickett run, and should know the playbook well.
With earlier additions along the offensive line through the portal in Wes King and Devin Vass and a high school/JUCO signing class rounded out by four-star tackle prospect Kevin Brown, and the third-best JUCO interior offensive lineman in Deshawn Woods, the Mountaineers have significantly turned around the look of their offensive line group after the position hindered the offense in 2025.
