WVU men's basketball is hoping to make a late addition to it's transfer portal class, and their target came away mightily impressed with his visit to Morgantown.

Incoming head coach Ross Hodge and his staff recently hosted Oklahoma State transfer Arturo Dean for a visit. Dean played a critical role in the rotation for the Cowboys, averaging 7.6 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game. He also managed 2.5 steals per contest, which was good enough to lead the Big 12 in that category. He also scored 13.4 points per game and led the nation with 3.5 steals per game during his sophomore season at Florida International.

Dean enjoyed his visit with the Mountaineers, according to an interview with 247Sports -- in particular he seemed most excited about the program's top-notch facilities, which he described as "off the charts." And Dean also seemed to be pleased with his overall experience with the WVU staff.

"The people were great, coaches were great. Their facilities were the main highlight of it," Dean said.

WVU basketball is no stranger to welcoming transfer guards from Oklahoma State, and it worked out pretty well for the Mountaineers the last time they made such a move -- Javon Small joined WVU's roster under then-coach Darian DeVries last summer, and proceeded to have a standout season.

Small averaged 18.6 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.1 rebound earn All-American honors and become a First-Team All-Big 12 selection. Small then went on to hear his name called in the 2025 NBA Daft earlier this week by the Memphis Grizzlies. If the Mountaineers land Dean and he can provide similar results, it would certainly be a major boon to a program rebuilding it's roster from scratch for the second time in as many seasons.
