The West Virginia Mountaineers were back in action this past weekend for their second series of the season against the Liberty Flames, and they returned to Morgantown with their second series victory of the year and wins in two out of three individual games over the weekend.
And despite picking up their first loss of the season in a standalone contest, the Mountaineers impressed enough during the season to climb in one prominent Top 25 poll to start the week, while they maintained their position in another poll.

WVU was snubbed from the preseason D1Baseball poll, but made its debut at No. 25 in last week's Top 25 poll. Now, West Virginia's performance against Liberty has moved the Mountaineers one spot upward to No. 24 in the latest edition of the poll, released on Monday.

The Mountaineers also climbed upwards in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Divison 1 poll, jumping from No. 23 to No. 21, and maintained their position in the Baseball America Top 25 poll, holding onto their spot at No. 20 in those rankings.
The Mountaineers are still on the outside looking in when it comes to the USA Today Coaches Poll, receiving the second-most votes of any team outside the Top 25.
WVU baseball will be back in action this week with four games on the slate – they'll open their home slate on Wednesday as they host the Ohio Bobcats, before hitting the road once again for a weekend series against the Kennesaw State Owls. A strong showing could keep the Mountaineers moving upwards in the next set of polls.
