West Virginia football is serious about continuing to add to their offensive line room.

On Thursday, the Mountaineers landed a massive addition in the transfer portal as Oklahoma offensive lineman Josh Aisosa announced his commitment to WVU. Aisosa was a Class of 2024 3-star recruit, and redshirted last season for the Sooners. He will maintain four seasons of eligibility.

It's always big for a Big 12 program like West Virginia to snag an SEC-caliber athlete in the portal, especially along the offensive line. He joins Kimo Maka'neole and Ty'Kieast Crawford as former SEC players that have joined the Mountaineers since Rich Rodriguez took the head coach position in Morgantown in December -- both those additions came in the winter portal window.

Aisosa is the second offensive lineman added in the spring portal window, following veteran FCS lineman Mickel Clay of North Alabama. The Mountaineers will also see senior offensive lineman Will Reed from Princeton join the roster this fall after committing late in the winter cycle.

While additions like the aforementioned Clay, Crawford, Maka'neole, and Reed -- as well as Tulsa transfer Walter Young Bear -- all have just one year to play and are meant to be immediate impact players, this addition is a bit different. Rodriguez harped on the lack of experience amongst his offensive line during spring practices, and Aisosa brings no game experience to the table.

This doesn't mean Aisosa won't find himself starting on Saturdays this fall, but it could indicate he may be viewed as more of a depth piece and project -- especially given the need for battle-tested lineman in the trenches for Rodriguez's first season.
