The West Virginia Mountaineers have attracted quite the big transfer portal prospect to Morgantown for a visit.
Joe Smith of RedditCFB reports that Jacksonville State running back Cam Cook is currently visiting WVU football. Cook led the FBS in rushing yards this past season with 1,659 yards and and was second in FBS with 16 rushing touchdowns, and add 288 receiving yards on 30 receptions. He also has visits arranged with Houston and Tennessee, and will have one season of eligibility remaining.
A credible source told me for @RedditCFB that 2025 FBS leading rusher Cam Cook is visiting West Virginia today. He was the Conference USA Player of the Year and an All-American selection. https://t.co/1xQVEjR73a

Cook was named Conference USA Player of the Year last season and was an All-America selection for his efforts. He is a Top 20 running back in the 2026 transfer portal cycle with a recruit ranking of 0.8700, according to the 247Sports transfer rankings. He was a three-star prospect and the 19th-best running back in the Class of 2022 out of high school, according to 247Sports, and was projected by 247Sports analyst Gabe Brooks to be a potential multi-year starter who could reach NFL Draft status coming out of high school.
While Cook comes from a familiar program to Rodriguez, who coached the Gamecocks from 2022-2024, he did not cross paths with Cook at the school. Cook has only been on the roster for one season with Jacksonville State, having joined the program after spending his first two seasons with the TCU Horned Frogs.
The Mountaineers are looking to rebuild a depleted running back room that saw one player's eligibility exhausted at the end of the season and six more enter the transfer portal.
